Government Contractors are now able to use their GSA Schedule to sell to The National Voluntary Organizations Active in a Disaster (NVOAD) to facilitate emergency preparedness and disaster relief.

With the upcoming Hurricane Season, this authorization shows great timing.  NVOAD now has immediate access to all Schedules, when members are purchasing in furtherance of purposes of emergency preparedness and disaster relief.

Current Federal partners of NVOAD include the US Army Corp of Engineers, Corporation for National and Community Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

NVOAD was created to reduce unnecessary duplication of effort when numerous organizations served disaster victims independently of one another.

Your Schedule contract requires no modification at this time and is ready to accept orders from the NVOAD members.  However, you are required to report these types of sales quarterly in the 72a system as Disaster Purchasing, and under the applicable “RC” component of your Special Item Number.  Be sure to annotate the sale within your internal sales tracking systems, along with all other forms of Disaster Recovery type transactions.

To date the majority of NVOAD’s federal purchases have been for training, conference support, and donation management; this authorization should increase the NVOAD’s buying power and scope.
