GSA has taken another step to emphasize their new Mission Statement of “delivering the best value in real estate, acquisition, and technology services to government and the American people.” Earlier this week Acting Administrator Tangherlini appointed Thomas Sharpe as the new FAS Commissioner. As FAS Commissioner Sharpe will be the primary advisor for Tangherlini and will oversee all things GSA/FAS related; that is over $55 billion in products and services.
Prior to joining GSA, Sharpe was the Department of the Treasury’s Senior Procurement Executive. At the Treasury, he was in charge of the bureau’s procurement operations including procurement policy, procurement career management, and procurement oversight. Sharpe has over 30 years’ of procurement and acquisition experience in both the government and private sectors. Tangherlini is hoping that this appointment will help to reiterate GSA’s new mission to save tax payer dollars and provide good service.
