The Defense Department’s own additional set of acquisitions regulation, complementing the overall Federal Acquisition Regulations. This is mirrored in each Federal agency, each of which must obey all the elements of the FAR and cannot reduce them, but are free to add additional regulation as needed.  The DFARS governs procurements made by the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Department of the Navy, Department of the Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
